What to expect at Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
The falls are certainly massive and beautiful. Although the name suggests there are two, it feels like you’re looking at many more! After you trek down to the falls there is ample space to sit and/or put your belongings while you go for a swim.
Although the water is pretty chilly, it feels great after you’ve worked up a sweat hiking down. The swimming area isn’t huge, but we never felt crowded. The water isn’t too deep, either, so it’s a great place to chill without having to tread water. Note that the base of the waterfall can be slick, so wearing water shoes is a great idea here.
While we only had 2 hours to spend here, we would have loved to have 3 to enjoy even longer!
There are also a ton of gorgeous angles you can take photos from down here, so don’t forget your camera!
Pro tip: a wide angle lens really helps capture waterfalls!

Trekking to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls Bali
After you park you will see a clear path begin towards the waterfalls. The first ten minutes consists of an easy walk along a wide and paved path.
After about 10 minutes you will encounter the entrance where you buy your ticket. Then, once you purchase your ticket, you go through the main entrance and begin the hike down to the waterfall.
While this portion of the trek only takes another 10 minutes, it is a little trickier than the first bit. Even in the dry season you should be prepared for a dirt/mud path, stairs and a few slippery spots.
Also note: the path gets much more treacherous during the monsoon season (Nov – Feb) so accessing the falls is trickier then.
While the hike back up is decently steep, it should only take another 20 minutes or so depending on your level of fitness. When you get back up there are restrooms to use and a few restaurants to pop into.
Overall we’d consider the hike to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls only moderate in difficulty, however we still highly recommend wearing proper tennis shoes for this hike!
>> Tip: Check out Ulun Danu Bratan Temple while you’re in the area!
How to get to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
You can get to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls by either renting a scooter and driving yourself or hiring a driver for the day. While it’s easiest to get to the falls from Munduk, it is still a doable day trip from Canggu or Ubud.
The route to the waterfalls takes you on Jl Raya Wanagiri along the Danau Buyan lake, and then down a side road until you reach the falls. The turn onto the unnamed side road is easy to miss, so make sure you’re paying attention!
While this final part of the drive gets a little narrow, the roads were generally in pretty good condition. We felt safe driving our scooter here, and we tend to be conservative with that.
>> Tip: Ulun Banu Bratan Temple, Wanagiri Hidden Hills and the Handara Gate are all also along this main road!
Munduk to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
It is a short 30 minute drive from the center of Munduk to reach the falls. If you feel comfortable on a scooter, we’d highly recommend driving yourself because the drive is stunning!
Ubud to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
It takes about 2 hours to reach the waterfalls from Ubud. We don’t feel comfortable on a scooter for that long, so if you’re like us we’d recommend hiring a driver for the day.
Canggu to the falls
Similar to the drive from Ubud, it takes a little less than 2 hours to get to the waterfalls from Canggu. We’d again recommend hiring a driver for the day if you are taking this route.
Banyumala Twin Waterfall Entrance Fee
The 2019 entrance fee for Banyumala Twin Waterfall is 30K IDR ($2 USD) per person, is cash only & includes a bottle of water. While it seems to have gone up in recent years, with the conservation efforts and facilities provided the price is still incredible.
When to visit Banyumala Twin Waterfalls?
The best time to visit Banyumala Twin Waterfalls is March to October. It’s best to avoid this spot during the monsoon season from November to February since the trail can get really slick.
Also, in order to avoid the crowds and enjoy a swim to yourself, it’s best to visit before 10:30 am and aim for a weekday.
