How to Make Your Perfume Last Longer: 3 Simple Tips
Oct 13, 2026

It turns heads, brightens a neutral outfit, and showed up everywhere this season. Whether your style is classic or eclectic, there’s an easy way to make this shade your own.
It’s not a color you would normally associate with the fall season, but red showed up on this year’s fall/winter 2026 runways, in nearly every part of the wardrobe, from belts and brooches to sweaters and jeans.
If you’re thinking of incorporating red into your fall outfits, here’s how.

You can start by focusing on the smaller details. A smudge of red on your lips can make the simplest jeans-and-T-shirt ensemble feel more glamorous. You can also wear red earrings to add a little pop of joy to a predominantly dark outfit, or a red floral brooch on your favorite blazer. Even a pair of red socks peeking out from your shoes can add a playful touch to your look
Neutral outfits can use a pair of red shoes for some vibrance. You can try pairing red ballet flats with beige trousers, or take a cue from Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, who wore red boots with a black-and-white checked blazer and black maxi skirt..
You can also work with accessories. Chanel used crimson belts as an accent for drop-waist dresses. You can also experiment with a red leather belt, a red top-handle bag, or a pair of red gloves to liven up an otherwise muted outfit.

Once you feel comfortable enough to go further, you can start swapping your go-to basics for red versions. Harper’s Bazaar suggests sticking to the silhouettes you already love, like a scarlet pair of straight-leg jeans with a neutral button-down. Tory Burch featured classic crewneck sweaters in cherry red, and Isabel Marant paired burgundy jeans with contrasting neutrals.

Another thing you can do is wear a V-neck or crewneck sweater over a red turtleneck for a peek of color. You can also swap your favorite white button-down for a red one.
Now that you’ve ventured into bigger details, you may want to go bolder and try color-blocking. Harper’s Bazaar suggests a “grape-tomato” combination of a red crewneck sweater and a purple pencil skirt, inspired by Prada and Celine. On the runways at Zankov and Lii, bright red shirts were layered over baby-blue or butter-yellow long sleeve.

And if you really want to make a statement, you can wear red from head to toe. On Celine’s runway, there were ensembles featuring several shades of red, from ruby trousers to a magenta button-down and vermilion accessories. For a shoe-focused version, pair red pumps with a leather pencil skirt and a red T-shirt.
Whichever way you go, think of red as a neutral like black or white. Vogue makes the case that red can be mixed and matched with almost anything, from earthy browns to easy neutrals.
Start wherever feels right. Whether it’s a swipe of lipstick or a full red outfit, a little red can go a long way this fall.
