Sunset at Munduk Moding Plantation

The sunsets here are some of the most breathtaking we’ve ever seen, so this list wouldn’t be complete without them! While our favorite sunset view is from the Munduk Moding Plantation resort, you can pull over at any spot along Jl Raya Wanagiri and get a beautiful show over the lake.

Make sure to look up the sunset time when you are there and set your alarm. You won’t regret it!

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is a famous Hindu water temple 30 minutes outside of Munduk. It is located along the banks of Lake Beratan (Danau Beratan) and is known as the “floating temple” because it appears to float on the water when the water levels are high.

“Floating Temple” not floating during dry season

Unfortunately we didn’t know the “when water levels are high” caveat and were a bit disappointed to see the temple not floating whatsoever. However, according to the locals if you come during November to May you will see the floating temple in all its glory!

While it’s definitely a place that was built for Instagram, the views really are amazing and the locals have built a great business around it! Coffee Plantation Tour

Munduk Moding Plantation is the largest and most successful coffee plantation in Bali and you can take a tour of it while you’re in the area.

This area has had a roller coaster of history with coffee farming after farmers abandoned the crops in the 90’s due to falling coffee prices. However, over the past decade through their dedication and hard work, it has become a sustainable and thriving coffee plantation once again.

The team takes so much pride in showing you around the plantation and how they make their organic coffee. The tour is offered as part of the daily free activities for guests of the Munduk Moding Plantation resort, but you can also buy a day pass to participate in this special trek.

Scooter ride along Jl Raya Wanagiri

Driving a scooter along the main road, Jl Raya Wanagiri, sounds so simple but was one of our favorite parts of our time in the area. With incredible greenery and views of the area’s lakes, it’s certainly one of the most scenic drives in Bali.

Lunch overlooking Danau Buyan lake

While you’re driving along Jl Raya Wanagiri admiring the scenery, you’ll encounter many huts on the side of the road. Here you can have lunch with unbeatable views overlooking Danau Buyan, and enjoy from your personal lake-side hut!
